If Godly people won’t, Godless people will. ~ Josh Howerton
Like water from a spring in the desert, this podcast fell upon my ears. A friend of mine shared a sermon from Josh Howerton a few weeks back. Consequently, I started listening to his podcasts.
In almost all arenas, I continue to hear false equivalencies drawn between conservative Christians and the socialism/communism. In other words, the false equivalency is that the political party ideologies aren’t that far apart, and it is divisive to support one or the other. If they aren’t that different, why are we are seeing millions of political refugees flooding into the Bible Belt?
While I firmly believe Christ preaches unity within the church(as best we can), I do not think He wants us to be yoked to false teaching and ideologies in the name of tolerance. That said, I firmly believe Jesus would go directly to those places and minister to those who are lost.
Howerton explains the differences between current political idealogies, and also explains why he is now speaking out regarding politics. Head to the minute 13:50 mark and watch to the 21:50 mark. I encourage you to listen to this clip, but really, this entire podcast is incredible. One of the best I have listened to. It has flavor!
How are the lost ever going to know they are lost if they continue to see Godly men bowing down before Haman? Mordecai refused to bow down. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow down. It was their witness which saved many.
Howerton’s church baptized 741 people just last weekend.
