Part II: What do we do when faced with wickedness?

What do we do when faced with wickedness to quote a good friend? We dig one more well than our enemies can fill in!

In the desert and dry climates, water sources are crucial. Water is the difference between life and death.

In the Valley of Gerar, Isaac moved his people as Abimelek wanted him to move away from him. Isaac’s people had grown too powerful in Abimelek’s eyes. In this new land, Isaac then opened the wells of his father, Abraham. Those wells had been stopped-up by the Philistines when Abraham died. The locals quarreled as each well was reopened.

Genesis 26: 23-24

23 From there he went up to Beersheba. 24 That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

And what did isaac do after this? He dug ANOTHER well!!!

25 Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the Lord. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well.

Finally, Abemelek figure out he wasn’t gonna win this one.

26 Meanwhile, Abimelek had come to him from Gerar, with Ahuzzath his personal adviser and Phicol the commander of his forces. 27 Isaac asked them, “Why have you come to me, since you were hostile to me and sent me away?”

28 They answered, “We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; so we said, ‘There ought to be a sworn agreement between us’—between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you 29 that you will do us no harm, just as we did not harm you but always treated you well and sent you away peacefully. And now you are blessed by the Lord.”

In the face of wickedness, we are going to keep digging more wells. If they fill one up, we are going to dig another. If they fill that one in, we will dig another one. And we are gonna keep digging new wells until they relent, If we have to keep digging wells for a thousand years, we will do it – Lord willing. We will be relentless.

We are not gonna give up our school system to a handful of people and a bureaucracy. More importantly, we aren’t handing our kids over for seven hours a day…and have no say. No sir! And we are going to keep defending great teachers.

Get out your shovels. We are going to dig new wells in the presence of our enemies. Let’s make this desert bloom with those wells.

Maybe we will start naming schools after great educators who have been run-off from Kingsport. Wouldn’t that be something?

In this storm, we are gonna continue to put our faith in our Savior Jesus. We have had people all over the country praying for Corey Gardenhour and his family for about the past twelve months – anyone telling you this hasn’t been going on for a while is straying from the truth badly. From Jackson, MS, to Boise, ID, they have been praying for them. These folks are prayer warriors. I spoken to people on the phone who I never met in person, and I explained the injustice a couple of months ago. They have been praying. Turns out, their son is also an educator. So I know what the enemy meant for evil….God is gonna turn to good.

You’re the name above all names (how great is our God, sing with me)
You are worthy of our praise (how great is our God, and all will see)
And my heart will sing
How great is our God

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
