Isaiah 49

God is not going to forget us. We are quite literally written upon his hands. Isaiah 49: 15-16…

Can a mother forget the baby at her breast

and have no compassion on the child she has borne?

Though she may forget,

I will not forget you!

16See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;

your walls are ever before me…

When I needed to remember something really important when I was teaching, I would write it on my hand. It looked like I had tattoos. God cares so much about us that he has engraved us on the palms of His hands.

I know many in our society think they don’t matter or have been forgotten about. While we were sinners, He still chose to die in our place. Before we ever knew that we even needed to savior, He was nailed to a cross.

I mean how many times have students walked into our schools so broken that their brokenness is more than any school program can fix? Not social emotional learning. Not restorative practices. The only thing that is gonna make them whole are the hands that were nailed to a cross. Maybe when Isaiah saw us engraved upon God’s hands…maybe those hands were pierced?
