Isaiah 5

I was talking with a friend the other day. It seems as if the Lord is currently restructuring the church. With evil taking a stronger hold and encroaching in this world, it is important for the church to be bold in preaching the Gospel. With many denominations bowing to secularism(the world), it is important that we be like the Old Testament men who refused to kneel before false teaching or idols…Mordecai, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Mordecai refused to bow before Haman. Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego refused to bow before the idol of Nebuchadnezzar.

We need to pray for shields of protection around those who are protecting our institutions by refusing to bow to false truth or refusing to worship idols. Their number is growing smaller by the day.

You might ask how Bible commentary or devotional format has anything to do with innovation in education which is the mission of this website. I mean I will ask you this question, “How does it not?” The greatest innovator is God. He is the author and perfecter of our faith. Where Christian faith has taken root in a society, freedom and innovation are almost always a consequential offshoot. If our children are to be free, they must know Jesus. What we teach must set children on a good path.

In the Bible we see deeply flawed people who, with God’s help, became just leaders. They were courageous enough to do the right thing. They didn’t water down scripture. Instead, they allowed the richness of God’s word to embolden them to live confidently in a world which was counter to that word. They became salt.

I think it is important for students to know that God tends to choose people who nobody expects to lead his people. Gideon, David, Peter, Paul….just a few of the “who’s-who” of people you didn’t expect God to choose. No matter what reading group they are in….they may end up being leaders in this restructuring of the modern day church.

By they way, I have no idea what the end result of this restructuring of the church will look like. I do, however, think that this new “reformation” will have fewer but bolder believers. They will not be lukewarm as darkness attempts to close in. No longer slaves to fear or cancellation, but able to preach the complete Gospel of Jesus Christ…and not the lesser Gospel found in so many churches today. I pray they will be able to discern and stand for truth.

From the book of Isaiah 5: 20-21….

Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
    and sweet for bitter.

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
and clever in their own sight.
