In Kingsport and other areas, primary elections for the BOE are set to be held. I am going to be writing a series of education articles about important educational issues which we face in NE TN and Kingsport. Hopefully, that information can help you in making informed choices when voting.
Of note, and I don’t hide this…this is a conservative blog which is centered around innovation in education and Christian values. Even though our country is deeply divided along political lines, I do think you will actually find some common ground within this blog regarding education which reaches across both aisles. But generally, you will find conservative content.
It is important to note that for only the second time in Kingsport’s history, the BOE election will have separate Republican and Democrat primaries. That primary election is May 5, 2026. The top candidates in each primary will then square off in the general election on August 6, 2026. Those primaries are important as most Democrat slots don’t have a candidate. That means whoever wins the primary, likely wins the seat unless an independent candidate is running. If an independent candidate is running, they will be on the August 6th ballot and face off against the primary winners.
Early voting begins April 15th. I strongly encourage you to understand the issues, and vote accordingly. Below is the election calendar along w/ sample primary ballots for the upcoming primaries.
