Christmas Music – It’s Time

As a teacher, I really enjoyed playing music for my students as they worked. My architectural drafting teacher offered that (music while we worked) in high school. It made the learning process so much more enjoyable. I thought maybe we could explore some recent, contemporary music (to me anyway!) to add to your playlists, and maybe add in an oldy but goody.

Now may the fragrance of His peace
Soar through your heart like the dove released
Hide in His wings oh weary, distant soul
He’ll guide your spirit home

***

Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel’s strength and consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art;
Dear desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

***

In the bleak mid-winter, all creation groans
For a world in darkness, frozen like a stone
Light is breaking
In a stable for a throne

***

Glory, glory, glory in the darkest place
Glory, glory, glory let Your mercy reign

Out of the depths of silent night
A Savior born, a mother’s sigh
The darkness trembled at this Star
A beam of hope for troubled hearts

***

Let our gladness have no end,
Alleluia!
For to earth did Christ descend.
Alleluia!
On this day God gave us Christ,
his Son, to save us;
Christ, his Son, to save us.

***

Glory to God in the highest
Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men
Let all of the world sing the chorus of joy
Because hope was born this night

John 12: 45-46 Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

Bonus: Here is some traditional music – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Ella Fitzgerald. In my humble opinion, this is how this should be sung.
